Mining project with research collaboration

The Fetsjön-Ormbäcken deposit consists of a shale (so-called alum shale) which is part of a sedimentary formation found at several locations along the eastern edge of the Scandinavian mountain chain. The shale is flat lying, superimposed by greywackes and underlayed by quartzites and it has been the subject of extensive research projects at several occasions in the late 1900s and early 2000s, when the main focus was its uranium content.

Since December 2019, Eurobattery Minerals, in collaboration with Uppsala University and AGH University of Science & Technology in Krakow, has been working to find new ways to recover rare earth elements (REE) from apatite without the risk of getting unwanted residues.
