Orezone AB becomes Eurobattery Minerals AB

Stockholm: Orezone AB changes its name to Eurobattery Minerals AB. The name change that was registered at the Swedish Companies Registration Office on 28 June 2019 is part of the company's commitment to extracting critical battery minerals such as cobalt, copper and nickel from its own assets in Europe.

-        Our new name describes our plans very well. When production starts - and it is very soon - the goal is to be able to supply Europe's battery manufacturers with "green minerals" from Europe, says CEO Roberto García.

Eurobattery Minerals AB - formerly known as Orezone AB - is a Swedish exploration company that is focused on acquiring and developing assets within battery metals located in Sweden and Europe. This includes, among other things, copper, cobalt and nickel - metals that are used to manufacture batteries, and which are absolutely crucial for society's electrification.

-        With current projects, we are very well positioned in relation to the global raw material cycle and the rapid development that takes place in electric vehicles and battery technology, says Roberto García, CEO of Eurobattery Minerals AB.

The company has several exploration licenses with potentially hazardous base metals in Northern Sweden, but this should be seen in a longer perspective, explains the CEO. Right now, the eyes are turning towards Europe where the company acquired a cobalt-copper-nickel project.

-        Our projects are in different stages of development. As for the project in Spain, we have come a long way. We are soon ready to start drilling. A significant part of the geological work has been completed and the results look promising, Roberto says.

If everything goes as planned, production can be operational in mid term. This would also mean that Europe's self-sufficiency of critical battery metals is increasing a little bit.

-        Apart from the fact that there is a large shortage of minerals with rising prices on the world market, there are also political risks. The majority of all cobalt comes from mines in Congo, a country affected by civil war, which can compromise delivery capability, says Roberto García.

As of 15 July 2019, the share is traded under the name Eurobattery Minerals AB and the symbol on NGM Nordic MTF is BAT.
